James Joseph Kunkel, 81, of Evansville, IN passed away April 17, 2012 at North Park Nursing Center in Evansville, IN. James was born in St. Louis, Missouri on March 5, 1931 to the late Frank and Regina (Grassman) Kunkel. He graduated from Memorial High School in 1949 and was a faithful member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. James is survived by his wife, Wynema (Snyder) Kunkel; sons, Michael Kunkel (Becky) of Hopkinsville, KY, John Kunkel (Sheila) of Evansville, Jim Kunkel (Beth) of Chandler, IN, and Joe Kunkel (Sandra) of Evansville; sisters, Joan Kremer of Evansville, and Carole Watt (Anthony) of Fishers, IN; brother, Thomas Kunkel (Marylou) of Evansville; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. James is preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Robert. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 918 W. Mill Road, Evansville, IN, with Father Paul Ferguson celebrating. Burial will follow at Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit from 9:30 AM until service time at the church on Thursday.
