Obituary:Reed Albert Tiek, 82, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Monday, March 26, 2012 at Pine Haven Health and Rehab.
Reed was born in Lawrenceville, IL on June 20, 1929 to the late Albert and Margaret (Brown) Tiek. Reed built a career in banking, spending several years with Peoples Bank and Trust Company in Mt. Vernon, Indiana, was Vice-President of the Owensville, Indiana bank, and retired from Cynthiana State Bank. He was a member of Salem United Methodist Church. Reed was also a member of the Freemasons, the Scottish Rite, and the Shriners. Reed was a dedicated family man with an active spirit; he loved RV living, traveling, riding motorcycles, farming, music and singing. He was a sports enthusiast, particularly an IU basketball fan.
Reed is survived by his wife of 61 years, Norma Frances (Sechrest) Tiek of Evansville, IN; daughters, Melinda "Mindy" Tiek Linton (Gary) of Evansville, IN, Maggie Tiek Gustafson (Robin) of Evansville, IN; sons, David Michael Tiek of Eagle Mountain, UT, Robert Bruce Tiek (Robin) of Middlesex, NC; sister, Donna Welton of West Lafayette, IN; grandchildren, Aaron, Laralyn, Steven, Michelle, Jason, Jon, Tami, Megan, Daniel, Sara, Jim and Molly; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Reed is preceded in death by his parents, and a grandson, Justin.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, March 30, 2012 at Salem United Methodist Church, 6311 Kratzville Rd. Evansville, IN 47711, with Rev. Randy Anderson officiating. Burial will be held at Locust Hill Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue, and from 12:00 PM until service time at the church on Friday. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 PM on the night of visitation.
Memorial contributions may be made to Salem United Methodist Church or to the St. Mary's Foundation, 3700 Washington Ave. Evansville, IN 47714.
