Robert E. Baker, 79, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Riverwalk Communities.

Robert was born in Boonville, Indiana on June 3, 1932 to the late Earl and Mattie (Jones) Conner. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a member of the VFW Post 1114. Robert was a custodian for the Evansville Public Libraries. He enjoyed country and western music.

Robert is survived by his sister, Virgie Shofner of Evansville, IN; son, Jeffrey Scott York of Evansville, IN; grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Martha (Craig) Baker in 1984, parents, sisters, Marcella Jeffers and Gladys Huggins.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue, Evansville, Indiana 47711 with Jan Akyers officiating. Burial will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, May 28, 2012 at Browning Funeral Home.
