Obituary:
William Hascal "Hack" Carver, 92, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at Columbia Health Care Center.

Bill was born on a farm in Barren County, Kentucky on May 22, 1919 to the late CharlesYetman and Bertha Virginia (Cash) Carver. He joined the CCC in 1939 and then the Army in 1940, where he Honorable Discharged in 1945 after a war injury in the Battle of the Bulge, European Front. He then returned to Evansville and married Norma Jean, who passed away in 2007. Bill retired from Whirlpool Corporation in 1984 after 38 years of service. He was a member of Methodist Temple, Disabled American Veterans, VFW Post #1114, American Legion Post 265, Tri-state Ham Radio Club and Chigger Diggers Camping Club. Bill enjoyed camping, fishing, dancing and gardening. He was a "man of many nicknames", including, Hack, Mousie, Bill and Rooster. Bill and Jean were Host and Hostess for the National Forest Service at a campground in Rocky Mountain National Park, CO in the summers of 1990, 91, 93.


Bill is survived by his children, Richard Allen Carver (Marie) of Wheat Ridge, CO; Theresa Ann Webb (Joseph) and Carolin Sue Preher of Evansville, IN; sisters, Edna Boruff of Lake Placid, FL; Ruby Cooper of Dale, IN; Dorothy Masterson of Lamar, IN; Clarice Oldham (Joe) of Mooresville, IN; brother, Leonard Bert Carver (Ruth) of Lamar, IN; grandchildren, Robert Adamson of Cleveland, OH; Ryan Preher (Danielle) of Elizabethtown, KY; Troy Preher, Debbie Keller, James Webb and Stacy Webb all of Evansville, IN; Eric Reil, John Reil, Amy Reil, Andy Reil all of CO; great-grandchildren, Courtney Donaldson, Kaleb Webb and great- great grandson, Conner Donaldson all of Evansville, IN.

Bill is preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean (Hay) Carver, brothers and sisters-in-law, Roy Garland Carver (Oney), Jake Clifton Carver (Bertha), a brother, Louie Ray Carver and a brother-in-law, Robert Hay.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 Diamond Avenue, Evansville, Indiana 47711 with Rev. Chris Neikirk officiating. Entombment will be held at Sunset Memorial Park Mausoleum, where the Retired Veterans Memorial Club will conduct military rites.

Friends may visit from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Friday, April 27, 2012 at Browning Funeral Home and from 9:00 AM until service time on Saturday.
